FAQs
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by contacting me directly via phone or email, or by using the contact form on this website. I’ll arrange an initial consultation to assess your dog’s needs and provide a tailored quote.
Can I stay with my dog during grooming?
Dogs often feel more relaxed when their owners are not present during grooming. However, if your dog has specific needs or if you'd specifically prefer to stay, we can discuss this during the consultation, but generally it’s not a good idea.
My dog is nervous. Can you still groom them?
Absolutely! I have years of experience working with nervous or anxious dogs. My priority is to create a calm, safe, and positive environment where your dog feels as comfortable as possible.
If your dog is nervous:
-
I’ll take extra time to build trust with your dog.
-
I work at their pace, allowing breaks if needed to reduce stress.
-
I use gentle handling techniques and positive reinforcement to help them feel safe.
What happens if my dog has mats in their fur?
Matted fur can be uncomfortable for your dog and difficult to manage. I’ll do my best to safely and gently remove mats, but in severe cases, trimming or clipping may be the best option. We’ll discuss this during the assessment.
How long does a grooming session take?
The duration of a grooming session depends on your dog’s size, coat condition, and the services requested. On average, sessions take between 1.5 to 3 hours. Rest assured, I take the time needed to ensure a calm, stress-free experience for your pet.
What products do you use?
I only use high-quality, pet-safe grooming products that are gentle on your dog’s skin and coat. If your dog has any allergies or sensitivities, please let me know during the consultation.
My dog is aggressive. Can you still groom them?
If your dog is aggressive:
-
During the initial consultation, we’ll discuss your dog’s behaviour in detail so I can prepare accordingly.
-
Depending on their needs, I may recommend shorter sessions initially to help them acclimate and get to know and trust me.
-
In some cases, safety tools like a soft muzzle may be necessary, but this will always be done with your approval and your dog’s comfort in mind.
Each dog is unique, and I believe patience and understanding go a long way in helping even the most challenging dogs enjoy their grooming experience. If you’re concerned about your dog’s behaviour, please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can discuss how I can best accommodate them.
Do you collect and deliver?
Yes, we may be able to collect and drop off locally, there will be an additional charge depending on the distance.
Please contact us to discuss.
Do I need to prepare my dog before the appointment?
Yes. Please ensure your dog has had a short walk before the appointment and has gone to the toilet. This helps them feel relaxed and comfortable during their session.
Do you groom all breeds?
I groom dogs of all sizes, from small to extra-large breeds. If you have any questions about your dog’s specific needs, feel free to reach out, and I’ll be happy to assist.
How often should my dog be groomed?
This depends on your dog’s breed and coat type. As a general guide:
-
Long-haired breeds may need grooming every 4–6 weeks.
-
Short-haired breeds may require grooming every 8–12 weeks.
We can discuss a schedule tailored to your dog’s needs.
Do you offer discounts for regular bookings?
Not at the present time but watch this space....
